I tried to make some Christmas gifts...and I must say they all turned out pretty good!
In January I attended a three day Silhouette Retreat that was hosted by Terri Johnson from TerriJohnsonCreates. She has a great blog! Please stop by and visit her. This retreat was amazing. I am even more so in love with my Silhouette Cameo now. My Sil is my most favorite go to crafting tool. Terri taught me so many great tips and tricks, shortcuts and more. There is so much that you can do with the Silhouette. During the time constraints we faced, she was only able to touch on a fraction of what it can do. Here are a few items I made during the retreat.....let's just say I am really in like with some HTV (heat transfer vinyl, especially the glitter kind) and it wouldn't surprise me if glitter runs in my veins!
Because of that retreat I am excited to be attending a Silhouette Instructor event this coming September. Along with a group of other passionate Silhouette users like myself, Terri will increase our Silhouette knowledge and skills while providing us with the necessary tools to effectively share and teach others that knowledge. I'm excited to be able to put on my own retreats and hands on classes.
And here are a few items I made utilizing my new found knowledge...
Did I mention we moved our office? It's not our main location, but as a satellite, it is very busy and in high demand. So I was able to use my skills and provide signage for our new glass door. I think it turned out great and I'm glad to say so does our practice manager and our physicians. I kind of think they were pretty impressed not knowing I had such skills. LOL! :) Please ignore the reflection - I've not mastered the photography thing yet. Who knows that might be my next undertaking...NOT!
All the while, I was able to attend my quarterly crafting group and make a few more things. I didn't get a whole lot accomplished, but anything is better than nothing. Also, we have now changed our quarterly date to bi-monthly and have changed our name from crafting days to Crafting Therapy Support Group. Sounds a little bit more important and necessary that just crafting days don't ya think? Heeheehee - During our two days of crafting I did a lot of PINTERESTing. I'm addicted. I'm truly seeking a support group..Oh that's right, I'm already a member. Okay, back on task...I did finish one card from Stampin' Up Paper Pumpkin and began cutting fabric in an attempt to make a rag quilt. And no, I'm not just trying to make a lap sized rag quilt. I've got my sights set on a King sized quilt. You know what they say...Go Big or Go Home, at least that's the way I heard it. Once I get it done, I will post the finished product, no matter what size I end up with. For now here is a look at the fabrics I'll be using.
A sweet coworker of mine got married and husband decided to go military. Guess you know what that means right? They got transferred to Texas and we had to say so long! So we had to send her out in style. It just so happens her name really is Felicia! baahaha!!
Just had to share a great idea for a baby shower gift or even for a gift when going to visit the new baby at the hospital. Why not use a Double Duty Caddy as a gift bag? Another innovative use for a great and versatile Thirty-One product. I love me some Thirty-One. How cute!
And then I got just a little caught up in trying to help my sister friend get her baby's nursery finished, so we did some painting. In between I made some baby gifts for the two showers she was given and tried to keep the gifts a surprise. Don't you know how hard that is to do. Especially when you are just as excited for that little baby to be born. I'll share more pics next time.
Finally he came into the world Brayden Paul - all sweet, cuddly and oh so baby smelling! What I wouldn't do to get some of that bottled. I've enjoyed being part of his blissful existence. I could hold him for hours...but the nice thing is...I get to play with him and then give him back. Until he gets older that is. I think he's gonna love his Aunt Julie!!!
Well as I look back at this post, I see how busy I've truly been, but then again I see how much has been created. So maybe I was doing what I love all along, CRAFTING!
